Julian Draxler wants to stay at Schalke next season, his agent has revealed.
Arsenal dispatched a delegation to Germany to negotiate a transfer for the 20-year-old in January, but talks broke down when Schalke refused to part with their star man for less than their £37.2 million valuation.
Speculation has been mounting that the Gunners would renew their interest in the summer transfer window, but Draxler's agent Roger Wittmann insists his client is in no hurry to leave Gelsenkirchen.
"He has to feel comfortable and he has to be happy," Wittmann told Goal of Draxler. "Julian's desire is to play for Schalke next season."
Draxler has struggled for form in the Bundesliga since the January switch to Arsenal fell through, but Wittmann insists the 20-year-old is over the worst of his problems.
"He had a phase where things did not run so smoothly," Wittmann admitted. "Every player experiences this. But he got himself out of it. He coped with the situation well and in the future he has to do so again.
"Now we have to see what the future holds for him and if he can live up to the things he expects from himself."
