Cardiff boss Mackay targets at least two more signings

The ambitious manager is keen to continue reinforcing ahead of the Premier League kick-off, following Saturday's club-record capture of midfielder Gary Medel from Sevilla
Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay wants to add another two players to the ranks before the Premier League season starts on Saturday.

The Scot has been busy in the close-season ahead of the club's first Premier League campaign, making five new additions and smashing their transfer record three times.

While promising players such as former Sevilla star Gary Medel and highly rated youngster Andreas Cornelius are among the recruits, Mackay is hungry for more.

"We're still looking and trying but it will only be players I feel that are going to improve the group," he told BBC South East Wales.

"Like everyone else, with three weeks still to go in the window, [we are] looking to see if there's anyone that can improve our squad.

"We've got various irons in the fire at the moment and they're all moving along and progressing at different levels.

"If we could at least get another two, then that would help."

The Welsh club have had a good pre-season, going unbeaten in four of their five friendlies, but they will have a significantly harder time when they face West Ham away in the league opener on Saturday.
