The Napoli defender believes that his team-mate is a constant threat to the opposition and will be vital in their final nine games this season
The Uruguayan's form for the Partenopei has reportedly caught the eye of a host of clubs, including Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City, but the Italian hopes his team-mate stays due to his importance to the team.
"Cavani is the top scorer in Serie A, a striker who guarantees more than 20 goals per year, a key player [for Napoli]," Gamberini said at a press conference.
"Even when he doesn't score, Edi is a man who helps the team and keeps the opposing defence constantly scared."
Napoli lie nine points behind Juventus in the Serie A title race and Gamberini feels Cavani will be the key man if they are to overhaul the Bianconeri.
"His contribution will be invaluable to the team even in these nine matches that remain."
