Fiorentina interested in Liverpool striker Borini, reveals sporting director

La Viola confirm the 21-year-old is an attractive option, but are unsure of the Premier League side's desire to sell despite a return of just one goal in 16 appearances

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has admitted the Serie A outfit hold an interest in Liverpool striker Fabio Borini.

The 21-year-old joined the Anfield outfit for around £10 million last summer, but a succession of injuries has restricted the forward to just nine Premier League appearances before a dislocated shoulder on Monday night ruled him out of the remainder of the season.

Prade told Radio Toscana: "We seek a striker with a hunger for goals in their DNA, a player who lives for the goal.

"We like Fabio Borini, but it's hard to see that Liverpool will let him go.”

Despite his struggles on Merseyside, Borini's agent Marco De Marchi insists the forward's long-term future remains at Anfield while hoping he will be fit to represent Italy during the Under-21 Euros this summer.

"Is his future still in Liverpool? Undoubtedly, Fabio has a long-term contract with one of the most glorious teams in world football," De Marchi told Tutto Mercato Web.

"From now think only to work hard to get back as soon as possible in the field. Needless to say, he's had an unlucky season."

"Physicians will determine whether he will need surgery. If he does, the recovery time will lengthen, and his season with Liverpool will be over. Hopefully he is able to recover at least in time for the 2013 European Championships with Italy."
