Wayne Routledge has agreed to sign a new four-year contract at Swansea City, Goal.com can reveal.

The winger, 27, has been a revelation under Michael Laudrup this season and the Welsh club have moved quickly to extend his current deal, which expires in 18 months.

Goal.com understands that Routledge will put pen to paper next week on a fresh agreement, which will run until 2017.

Routledge has flourished following the summer departure of Scott Sinclair to Manchester City, starting 18 of Swansea’s 20 league matches and scoring five goals.

He has been playing the best football of a nomadic career, which has included spells at Crystal Palace, Tottenham, Aston Villa, QPR and Newcastle United, as well as loans at Portsmouth, Fulham and Cardiff City.

Laudrup has hailed the importance of the wide player to his team, which has punched above its weight for a second consecutive campaign in the top flight.
