thumbnail Hello,

The Gunners boss claims that there has been no contact with the Blaugrana over the Cameroon star, but the player himself could not deny that the Catalan club were interested

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insisted on Monday that there has been no enquiry from Barcelona regarding the availability of midfielder Alex Song.

The Cameroon international is reportedly a target of new Blaugrana boss Tito Vilanova, but Wenger has moved to quash the speculation surrounding his future.

The French boss insisted that no contact had been made between the two clubs and hit out at reports in the Spanish media.

"There's nothing going on with Song," Wenger is quoted as saying by The Sun. "There's nothing in that.

"Song has three years [on his] contract, he's not in the same situation as Robin van Persie.

"In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We've had the experience of that. We've never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona."

Song had earlier admitted to Sky Sports that there was "interest" from a club which he described as "the best team in the world" but declared himself happy at the Emirates Stadium.
