Roma have not expressed an interest in Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay, his agent has declared.

Italian sources have claimed in recent times that Garay is one of Roma coach Luis Enrique's priorities to bolster the Giallorossi squad at the end of the season.

"The truth is that I learned about Roma's interest through the press," Ricardo Schlieper told calciomercato.

"I have not been contacted by anyone."

The Argentina international, who joined Benfica in the summer in a €5.5 million deal, has been ever present in the club's back line since his arrival.

The former Real Madrid defender has a contract with the Portuguese club until 2015, with a €20m release clause written into the deal.
