Borussia Dortmund will progress from group - Worns

The ex-Signal Iduna Park star believes his old club will make it into the knockout stages of the Champions League despite their opening Group F loss to Napoli

Former Borussia Dortmund sweeper Christian Worns has warned Jurgen Klopp's side that they are in a "dangerous" Champions League group - but backed them to advance from Group F.

The Bundesliga giants reached the final of the competition last term, but have been drawn alongside Arsenal, Napoli and Olympique de Marseille in the first phase of this year's edition.

While Worns believes their path to the knockout phase could be perilous, he feels they should make it out of the group, despite their 2-1 loss to the Partenopei on matchday 1.

"This group is dangerous. Napoli and Arsenal are very strong opponents and in the first match in Naples Dortmund already had bad luck," he told Goal.

"BVB have reinforced very well. It is a trademark of this club, they always manage to replace departed stars. In depth, they have a better team this season.

"They had a sensational start to the league and between places one and three anything is possible. In the Champions League it is much more difficult to give a good prediction.

"Their group is strong, but they will manage to go through. And in the knockout matches there will be little details deciding on success and failure."
