The midfielder has admitted that the Rossoneri struggled before the break, but was pleased to see his side improve after the interval and eventually defend their aggregate leadAntonio Nocerino has conceded that AC Milan were not good enough in the first half of Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League round of 16 second-leg loss away against Arsenal, but feels that the Rossoneri recovered well in the second period.
The Serie A champions were brimming with confidence ahead of the match, following their 4-0 win in the first game in Milan, but they eventually only just scraped through after a tough encounter in London.
Nocerino was relieved to see his side progress to the next round of the Champions League, and set his sights on the challenges that lie ahead.
"We didn’t play a good first half and we conceded three goals and risked even more. But in the second half we played well and now we’re through to the quarter finals so we can enjoy that," Nocerino was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"I know that in the first half, we should have done more. We risked a lot, but the team did well in the second half. At half-time we said we had to stay calm and that’s what we did and we played a good second half, although I dropped a bollock with my miss, referred the midfielder to his missed chance from close range.
"In the quarter-finals, they’re all big teams, but the sure thing is that they’ll be up against a Milan side that willl be even better and a first half like you saw tonight will never happen again. We missed as lot of chances, but we’ve also knocked out a prestigious team."
AC Milan will now turn their attention to domestic action again as they take on Lecce at San Siro on Sunday.
