Selangor’s hitman Paulo Rangel believes that Brazil lacked preparation before entering the 2014 World Cup, which resulted in some of their poor displays during the tournament.

Brazil, who finished 4th in the World Cup, but conceded 10 goals in their last two games, including seven goals against eventual winners Germany, bowed out from the tournament with some poor display and Rangel believes it was down to their preparation.

Speaking to Goal Malaysia, Rangel said, “Yes Brazil has good individual players, but I think they don’t have enough preparation for the World Cup. Football is a very serious issue and If you don’t work hard or work 100%, you cannot win any game.”

Rangel also believes that World Cup winners Germany were very well prepared and very organized, even years before the World Cup kicked off.

“I think Germany is a very strong team, and they have very good preparation. They were organized and prepared for the World Cup years before and they won the tournament. Brazil is a good team but lack of preparation was one of the factors for the poor performance,” he added.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup ended on Monday morning with European giants Germany defeating Argentina 1-0 to win the prestigious World Cup for the fourth time in their history. Mario Gotze scored the winner in extra-time to end Argentinian hopes of winning the trophy.

Paulo Rangel, who was voted Goal Malaysia’s Best MSL Player, is currently busy preparing with The Red Giants for the Malaysia Cup campaign, which kicks off a month from now.

Selangor, runners-up in this year’s MSL, have been placed in the same group as Premier League Champions PDRM, and fellow MSL sides Sime Darby and T-Team.
