The Harimau Muda tactician insisted that his men are fully focused on the task at their hand, as they prepare to take on Myanmar in the Merdeka Cup final on Saturday

Harimau Muda boss Ong Kim Swee believes that his troops are fully concentrating on the challenge they face this weekend, with Myanmar standing in between them and the Merdeka Cup crown.

Malaysia have had an emphatic run in the competition so far, winning all three group games while also scoring six goals in the process. However, their match against Myanmar prior to this was a delicate one, and they only managed to secure victory after an improved second half performance.

Thus, Harimau Muda know the challenge that they will be facing this weekend, and Ong Kim Swee believes that his men will up for it on Saturday.

"We can see that they are comfortable and fully concentrated on the task at hand," he said.

"They are not under pressure and that is a good sign for us."

With Rozaimi Rahman impressing in their 3-0 victory over Thailand on Wednesday, Ong has a selection dilemma at hand. He went on add that team selection will be done after their video session.

"I will only decide on the starting eleven once we finish our video session tonight. Wan Zack & Junior seemed to have recovered well but we must ensure that they are fit enough to play all 90 minutes. The whole squad records a clean bill of health."

Regardless of the result on Saturday, this tournament has served its purpose of providing preparatory matches for the National Under-23 team ahead of the South East Asian Games at the end of this year. And Ong Kim Swee believes that the SEA Games will be very competitive, due to several factors that he outlined.

"We know that Thailand did not send their strongest team to Merdeka Tournament, but we know that they won big against China and most of their players are under 23 years of age.

"Looking at the history of SEA football, Thailand and Myanmar are strong nations. Truthfully, we still could not evaluate the Indonesian team but we know they'll participate in the Islam Unity Sports Tournament in Palembang so maybe after that we'll know better.

"Andik Vermansyah is definitely their dangerman but they have other good players as well. This year's SEA Games will surely be tough."
