The ATM defender believes that the Red Giants will be a tough team to beat, although respect must be given to the other sides in the Malaysia Cup
ATM defender Amirizwan Taj reckons that Selangor FA will be the toughest opposition in the upcoming group stages of the Malaysia Cup.
The Armed Forces were drawn into Group A, which includes Selangor, Sime Darby and Johor FA in it and while Taj insisted that every team has it's own advantage, he admitted that the Red Giants will be a tough nut to crack.
"Selangor are a very good team and they will be there to pose a strong challenge for us," he told Goal exclusively.
"However, it is equally important for us to not look down upon the other teams in our group. In my opinion, every team is capable of causing problems for us and it will be vital for us to show respect to all of them.
ATM made it all the way to the finals of last year's Malaysia Cup, in which they were defeated by Kelantan. Nonetheless, Taj believes that the Gladiators are aiming to replicate their previous run, except that they want to win this time.
"Of course, we are looking to replicate our run last year. We want to reach the final again, but this time win it as well.
"I'm extremely excited and motivated for the competition, even though there is a slight chance that I may not feature in the early stages due to the injury that I picked up while being with the national team in Japan."
ATM will be opening their Malaysia Cup campaign against Sime Darby on August 20.
