Perak head coach Azraai Khor Abdullah has confirmed that Muangthong United are keen on bringing back Paulo Rangel to the Thai capital, as they seek to boost their front line.
The Thailand Premier League side have had a disturbing few weeks, with Winfried Schaefer departing for Jamaica. Foreign forward Roland Linz seems to be struggling upfront, while Teerasil Dangda has been struggling for form recently.
Thus, they are now interested in bringing back Paulo Rangel, who is on-loan at Perak.
"Yes, Muangthong are interested in bringing him back," Azraai told Goal Malaysia exclusively.
"You have to understand that we took him on-loan and they are probably keen now after his performances in the Super League with us."
However, Azraai also went on to add that the Brazilian forward himself prefers to remain here as he is happy playing for the Seladangs.
"Most importantly, Paulo Rangel himself wants to stay here. He likes it very much here and is keen to continue playing for us.
"As of now, we are still negotiating with Muangthong and hopefully we can strike a deal for him to remain here.
"I would say that there is a 60% chance of him staying here, so lets see what happens."
Losing Paulo Rangel, who netted nine goals in nine Super League games, would be a big blow for Perak, who are currently preparing for the upcoming Malaysia Cup competition.
