The former Siena coach was suspended for 10 months earlier this week, but the Turin giants feel he will still be very important for the Old Lady

Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that Antonio Conte still has a key role to play at Juventus in the upcoming season.

The successful coach was handed a 10-month ban on Friday for his involvement in the Scommessopoli scandal, but the club's general director has stressed his work throughout the week will still be crucial for the Serie A champions.

"Antonio was the main man behind our Scudetto victory and, considering the fact that the role of a modern coach is based around leading a group, we are convinced that the work he conducts during the week will still be fundamental," Marotta was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"The game will be a bit like an exam for a student, who would have to study several days before in order to pass."

The general director then went on to stress that the Old Lady believe in Conte's innocence.

"We are convinced of his non-involvement in the events that are being contested, also in light of the legal proceedings and the professionalism he has always displayed.

"There are a further two steps of appeal, we are already working on them and hope his innocence will subsequently emerge."

Juventus start the 2012-13 campaign with the Supercoppa Italiana against Napoli on Saturday.
