Inter defender Chivu sustains dislocated toe

The Romanian defender faces a brief spell on the sidelines due to a foot injury, and may now miss the second leg of his side's Europa League qualifier against Hajduk Split
Inter could be without the services of Cristian Chivu for a period of time, after the defender picked up a toe injury in Thursday's 3-0 Europa League qualifier success over Hajduk Split.

The Romanian defender featured from the offset in the Nerazzurri's victory, but was forced to stay behind in the dressing room at half time due to the problem.

Chivu underwent further examinations on Friday to determine the extent of the knock, and Inter have since announced that the 31-year-old has dislocated the second toe on his right foot.

It is not yet known exactly how long the centre-back will be out of action, but Chivu is now considered a doubt for the second leg of his side's European qualifier.

Chivu recently signed a contract extension with Inter that ties him until the summer of 2015.
