The Bosnian coach has emerged as the leading candidate to take charge of the Italian side and he will sit down with the club's chiefs in the next 24 hours
The 48-year-old was appointed as the Swiss club's coach only this month, but Italian sources have suggested that the Bosnian is a potential candidate to take over at Lazio.
Degennaro says that Petkovic is due to sit down with the Biancocelesti and admits that the club will not stand in the way of the coach moving to Italy.
"He arrived at the club just 15 days ago, but it is true that when Lazio calls, it is hard to keep hold of anyone," Degennaro told Radio Mana Mana.
"The Sion president and I met with Petkovic today [Tuesday]. He will meet with Lazio tomorrow, if an agreement is found we will not stand in the way.
"I would really like to see Petkovic at a big club like Lazio, I wish him all the best."
Lazio are on the lookout for a new coach after Edy Reja decided to leave the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season.
Gianfranco Zola, Roberto Di Matteo and Walter Mazzarri have also been linked with the vacant hot-seat of the club that finished in fourth place in Serie A.
