Robin Chitrakar revealed that there are currently no further plans on the cards to move any more players from his Courts Young Lions side to the LionsXII team currently plying their trade in the Malaysia Super League.
Speaking after his side’s 2-0 loss to Geylang United at the Jalan Besar Stadium which saw them remain bottom of the S.League table, Chitrakar said that defender Abdil Qaiyyim Mutalib’s move to the LionsXII team is the one and only case.
When asked by Goal.com Singapore if there are more of such similar moves planned ahead for any of his Young Lions players, Chitrakar replied confidently: “No. In fact, we need more players to join us."
On why Abdil had moved to the more senior squad, Chitrakar explained that Abdil was released from the Young Lions side because “the LionsXII needed him”.
Chitrakar was also quick to play down any possible ill effects of Abdil’s move on his team.
“Abdil had actually yet to pass his beep test and has not even played for the side.” he commented.
LionsXII coach V.Sundramoorthy meanwhile had mentioned in a press coference on Tuesday night that there is the possibility of signing one more player at least.
"We are looking at one, and possibly another one," said Sundram hesitantly.
"But we really need [them] soon, at least one more."
A series of injuries to the LionsXII had decimated the team and left Sundram with few available players. The former Singapore international had even previously resorted to naming just four to five players on the bench given the state of his team.
Key players who are still out include, Sufian Annuar and Izwan Mahbud though Baihakki Khaizan and Khairul Amri are looking set for action soon.
Shahril Ishak, Isa Halim, Madhu Mohana and Hariss Harun are all also believed to be carrying knocks. Shahril and Isa only made a late appearance from the bench in the previous match.
