Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin has urged the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to investigate cases that involve clash-prone matches so that security measures can be taken.

According to Khairy, FAM and local authorities must pay more attention towards the security, to ensure that everything is under control when clash-prone matches took place.

Speaking to Bernama, Khairy said “The incident that happened at State Stadium in Kuching shouldn’t have happened, but of course, when the energy and the enthusiasm of the fans were high, fights and riots tend to occur, especially when security control was not that strong.”

Khairy was commenting on the issue as the clash between Sarawak and Perak once again ended with a bad note as riots reported happened right after the game ended.

“I would like to ask for the Police, and the FAM to make sure to tighten up the security control, ad let the police to carry out investigation,” added Khairy.

KJ also advised all football supports to behave themselves when watching a football match in order to prevent any unwanted incidents.

Sarawak only able to draw with Perak 1-1 after 90 minutes, which saw their hope to advance for the next round shattered. Perak, Terengganu and Kedah still have a chance to qualify from the group.
