JDT midfielder Irfan Fazail will miss the Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, due to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, confirmed Ong Kim Swee.
The former captain of Harimau Muda A got the injury when JDT faced Tampines Rovers FC, and Ong Kim Swee admitted that the absence of Irfan is a huge loss for the team.
According to Kosmo, Kim Swee stated that it has disrupted his plans, especially with having very limited time to prepare for the tournament.
“Without him, we won’t be able to have his excellent passes from midfield and honestly we will miss him, because we know his quality when he plays with us,” added Kim Swee.
However, Kim Swee insisted that other players can now step up their game to grab his spot and have a chance to play in the first eleven with Irfan out injured.
“We still have Nazmi Faiz, Junior Edstal, Saiful Ridzuwan that can fill the midfield position and I hope they will take this opportunity. Therefore I don’t think it’s a major problem because I know they can do their job well,” said Kim Swee.
The 2014 Asian Games will start on the 14th of September and end on the 3rd of October 2014.
