Youth and Sports Minister of Malaysia Khairy Jamaluddin has answered the call to take up the Ice Bucket Challenge to create awareness over ALS disesase.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral through social media, dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads. He or she then must nominate other people, and the next person has 24 hours to do the same thing or forfeit by making a charitable financial donation.
For Khairy, he decided to do the challenge, also for the late Malaysian footballer Mokhtar Dahari, who also died from the same disease.
“This is for you, this is for Super Mokh, The Late Mokthtar, and also to accept the challenge that you throw at me, to raise awareness and I will also be contributing for ALS disease,” said Khairy just before he threw a bucket full of ice over himself.
Right after he did the challenge, Khairy nominated his colleague Wan Rahman Dahlan, and also Nazri Aziz and Malaysian Squash player Datuk Nicol David to do the challenge next.
Some of the famous footballers that have already done the challenge include Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maroune Fellaini as well as Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas.
