The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have released a statement that they have postponed all four matches from this Friday (August 22nd) to the next day (Saturday August 23rd) in respect of National Mourning Day.
The FAM stated that the reschedule was done in order to give honour to the national mourning day on Friday, as the remains of several Malaysians victims on MH17 will arrive home from the Netherlands.
Through their website it was announced that other than the clash between ATM and Kelantan, which has been switched to the Shah Alam Stadium, instead of the Selayang Stadium, other matches will be held at the same place and kick-off time.
The matches that will be rescheduled are Group A fixtures between champions Pahang and Felda United FC, and the clash between JDT II and Singapore’s Lions XII.
Group D fixtures will also be rescheduled, which involves the tie between MSL champions JDT and Penang, and ATM versus Kelantan.
MH17 was a Malaysian Airlines plane that was shot down in eastern Ukraine last month, killing everyone on board, including citizens from Malaysia, Netherlands, Australia and many more nations.
This MH17 tragedy was the second accident to happen to Malaysia Airlines this year, after flight MH370 went missing in March.
