The team manager for Harimau Muda A, Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah, has confirmed that the squad may call upon some senior players to help the team in the Asian Games next month.

The Young Tigers, who are currently in Australia, will soon return to Malaysia and head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee may call some of the senior players to improve the strength of the squad.

According to Astro Arena, Afandi said “I always keep in touch with Datuk Ong Kim Swee and the preparations are going well. The players have become one good team. As soon as they return we will have a training camp and some of the senior players may be called to help the team get stronger.”

Afandi also confirmed that Harimua Muda A will leave for China in early September for a friendly match before they head to Incheon. However, he hopes that the players will avoid any injuries before the tournament and that the match will be a good test for the first team players.

Meanwhile, Afandi has set the target for Harimau Muda A to at least make it to the quarter-finals, and hopes that the team will not be drawn into a 'group of death'.

“The draw will decide where Malaysia will be and I am hoping that we can get something from it so that we can build our confidence to go for the next round,” added Afandi.

In 2010, Malaysia qualified from the group stage but failed to pass through the second round in Guangzhou, China.
