Selangor striker Hazwan Bakri is hopeful that he will have more chances to play during the Malaysia Cup, in order to grab a place for the Asian Games this September.
Hazwan rarely featured in the first eleven as coach Mehmet Durakovic opted to use Brazilian Paulo Rangel who finished as the league’s top scorer.
Speaking to Harian Metro, Hazwan said “I only played less than two games and only two or three games I played for (a) full 90 minutes. I even had to play on the wings and of course It’s not that satisfying when you rarely play.”
Hazwan however does not regret joining the Red Giants, after leaving Harimau Muda A, and admitted that he must always be ready whenever the coach uses him.
“I did not regret joining Selangor, because this is football. There is always competition and I must give my best all the time,” he added.
Hazwan has to compete not only with Paulo Rangel, but also local strikers such as Thamil Arasu, Abdul Hadi Yahaya and Afiq Azmi.
When asked about his chances for playing under Ong Kim Swee for the Malaysia under-23 team, Hazwan said it is up to OKS but he must keep himself fit all the time.
Selangor are still trying to achieve their Mission 33, after missing out for the MSL title when they finished second behind eventual champions Johor Darul Ta'zim.
