A total of 24 players will be given a chance to play as Pahang are set to meet Indonesian Club Persija at the Darul Makmur Stadium on the 19th of July.
Pahang coach Zainal Abidin Hassan stated that he is planning to give every player a chance to face Persija, who have some of the best players in Indonesia at their disposal.
According to Metro, Zainal said “For me, we must use this golden opportunity especially when the we face such a high quality team in order to prove our own.”
Zainal also insisted that this match will be part of their preparations in defending the Malaysia Cup trophy, which they won last year.
“This friendly will also be a part of our preparation for Malaysia Cup, including improving our attacking as well as toughening up our midfield and defence. I hope that all players will be ready to face Persija,” he added.
Zainal added that other than Persija, they will also face a few other local teams, who are also competing in the Malaysia Cup. However, negotiations are still ongoing, therefore he cannot confirm anything.
Zainal also commented that he is optimistic that Pahang can defend the Malaysia Cup if they do well and really focus on their preparations before the tournament.
