FA Cup champions Pahang will now turn their focus on retaining their Malaysia Cup trophy, after it was confirmed that they will miss out on the MSL title and finish third in the league no matter what happens in their last fixture.
According to their head coach, Zainal Abidin Hassan, defending the Malaysia Cup will be a huge task because other teams will be trying to beat them.
Commenting on their Super League achievement this season, Zainal was satisfied as the team finished third, two places better than last year.
He also praised his players after putting up a good performance against PKNS FC during their clash at Darul Makmur Stadium, and Zainal is already looking forward to their last game of the MSL season.
He told Bernama, “I hope to get maximum points in our last game against Perak this Wednesday.”
Pahang defeated PKNS FC in their last home game in the MSL 2014, with goals from Azidan Sarudin and Saiful Nizam giving them a comfortable lead, before Karlo Primorac scored a consolation goal for PKNS in the 88th minute.
With the win, the current FA Cup, Charity Shield and Malaysia Cup champions have sealed third spot, with Terengganu in 4th place now four points behind the Elephants.
Pahang have collected 37 points so far, with 11 wins, four draws and six losses; while Terengganu are on 33 points.
