Pahang are hoping for a miracle in the remaining two matches in order for them to win the Malaysia Super League trophy this season.
The Elephants, who still have an outside chance of winning the title, are hoping that JDT and Selangor will stumble in order to give them any chance of winning their third trophy in one year.
According to their secretary-general, Fuzzeimi Ibrahim, although Pahang will have no problem in collecting the full six points in their remaining matches, that would not be enough if Selangor and JDT win their respective games.
Speaking to Astro Arena, Fuzzeimi said “Based on our record, we will have no problem to beat PKNS FC and Perak this Saturday and next Wednesday. This is because we beat PKNS 3-1 and Perak 2-0 before. However, if the league leaders, JDT and Selangor collect maximum points, then there goes our hope.”
Despite everything, Fuzzeimi insisted that the players are not put off by their position as they believe that anything can happen in football.
Fuzzeimi added that the only way that Pahang can win the trophy if both Selangor and JDT loses or draws in their next two games.
JDT are currently leading the pack with 38 points after 20 games, with Selangor 2nd on 37 points and Pahang on 34 points.
Pahang are the current Malaysia Cup holders as well as the FA Cup holders, which they won earlier this month by defeating Felda United.
