Selangor head coach Mehmet Durakovic lamented his teams failure to go back to the top of the table once again after losing to Kelantan 2-0 at Kota Bharu.

Selangor, who suffered their second defeat in a row, remain second in the table and have ATM to thank after the Gladiators beat league leaders JDT 2-1 to ensure that the battle for the MSL will go down to the wire.

Speaking to the reporters after the game, Mehmet said “we had a wonderful chance to go top once again but what can I say, it’s not easy to come here and play a very good team.”

Selangor went down after Kelantan scored in both halves, with former Red Giants striker Francis Forkey Doe opening the scoring in the first half, and Wan Zaharulnizam sealing the win later in the second half.

Mehmet also praised a number of Kelantan players, singling out national goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat for having an excellent game for the Red Warriors.

“They didn’t make it easier for us. They pressured us and they scored two counter attack goals. We had our chances but their goalkeeper played really well and in the end, we didn’t deserve to win,” he added.

Selangor will now be hoping that Kelantan will beat JDT in their next game, as they themselves need to beat Sarawak if they wish to return back to the top of the table.

Selangor were without striker Paulo Rangel, and ever since his absence they have suffered two defeats and failed to score goals in both games.
