The head coach of Terengganu, Abdul Rahman, has put the blame on players after they were defeated by 10-men Selangor in their last match.
Abdul Rahman stated that his players lacked discipline and professionalism on the field and he was disappointed as the defeat has made their dreams of winning the Super League much harder.
Speaking to Bernama, Abdul Rahman said “We lost three points at home because of the defeat and it will be hard for us to keep challenging for the number one spot from now on. This is because we (had a) lack of discipline and professionalism.”
Abdul Rahman also added that his players were too eager to find the equalizer, which made them lose their focus, and the Selangor players did well to exploit the gaps in the defence allowing them to score goals on the counter attack.
In a tense game Terengganu fell behind to Paulo Rangel’s goal late in the first half, before the striker was sent off in the injury time at the end of the first half.
The Turtles tried to come back in the second half, but they failed to keep their focus as Selangor managed to score in the 88th and 90th minute to make the score line 1-4 by the end of the game.
Terengganu are now third in the league behind Selangor and JDT, but they are now six points behind the Red Giants, and four points behind second-place JDT.
