The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will increase the security level at the Shah Alam Stadium for the FA Cup final between Pahang and Felda United this Saturday.

Vice President of the FAM, Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah, said the security is there to prevent fans bringing in illegal items such as firecrackers and flares.

He stated that more than 1000 police will be on duty that day to make sure that any disturbances or interruptions to the game can be avoided.

According to Utusan, Afandi said “Based on our previous experience handling the finals, I believe that we can get this job done smoothly.”

Afandi also stated that Felda United are expected to bring thousands of fans to the stadium as this will be their first time in the final, and he also expects Pahang to do the same.

“My only wish is that both sets of fans will give their full support to their teams and watch the games peacefully without the need to create a scene,” he added.

Pahang made it to the final of FA Cup by knocking out Johor Darul Ta’zim, while Felda United beat Kelantan on away-goals rule to book their place in the final.
