Perak solidified their grip on Malaysian youth football by capturing the 2014 Malaysian Games' gold medal for football
The 2014 Malaysian Games (SUKMA) which ended on Wednesday saw Perak coming home with the gold medal after beating Johor 3-1 in the final match of the competition.
The goals for Perak were scored by Muhammad Shahrel Fikri (7th minute and 90th minute) and Khairul Asyraf (17th minute) who also plays for the Perak MSL squad. Johor's consolation goal was scored from a penalty kick by Shafiq Shaharuddin in the 76th minute.
Perak had earlier advanced to the knockout stage after topping group B and beating the Federal Territories and the hosts Perlis in the quarter final and semi final matches.
Johor meanwhile had topped group D, before emerging victorious over Sabah and Kedah in the knockout stage.
In the previous edition in 2012, Perak finished the silver-medalists after losing to Sabah 3-0 in the final match.
Meanwhile the hosts Perlis failed to bring some consolation to their home fans, after losing 1-0 to neighbouring rivals Kedah in the bronze medal decider.
