Despite playing without several key players such as Razman Roslan, Saiful Nizam and Azidan Sarudin, Pahang coach Zainal Abidin Hassan was delighted with the performance shown by the players.
According to Zainal, the win over Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) was sweet revenge for Pahang after they lost to the same opponents last year at the same stage.
Quoted from Utusan, Zainal said “Every player did their job really well and what’s more important is that we finished the task that was given to us by the President, Tengku Abdul Rahman. He wanted us to give 200% focus and we did that by winning the game.”
Pahang made their way to the final of FA Cup after defeating JDT 1-0 at the Darul Makmur Stadium, and the current Malaysia Cup holders now will face Felda United, who defeated Kelantan to book their place in the final.
With almost 90% of the same players in the squad when they lost to JDT last year, Zainal praised them and the fans for giving their all for the game.
“I must praise the discipline shown by the players, even though some of our players were out injured and I am very thankful for the fans, who never stop giving the team and the players strong support every time,” he added.
The game against Felda United will be held in five days time, with Pahang now the favourite to win but facing a tough task to beat underdogs Felda United.
