Harimau Malaya’s profligacy in front of goal was there for all to see in the 0-0 stalemate in Cebu last Sunday against a second string Philippines.
The result has only further inspired long-suffering local footballfans to demand that talented foreigners plying their trade in Malaysia be naturalized in order for the national team to shine on the international stage.
One name considered a candidate for naturalization is Selangor goal machine Paulo Rangel. The former Boavista youth product took to Instagram to state his willingness to don the famous black and yellow colours of Malaysia.
“Good afternoon everyone! I was very happy with this news, it would be a pleasure to help this country that opened the door for me and my family, I am very grateful and happy here! Thank you for your support!” said an elated Rangel in response to Goal Malaysia’s Poll of the Day earlier today.
The Brazilian forward has endeared himself to the Malaysian football fans with his instinctive finishing which which has propelled The Red Giants to the Malaysia Super League (MSL) title race with Pahang and Terengganu.
The 29-year-old has topped both the MSL and the AFC Cup scoring charts this season with 14 goals and seven goals respectively.
