Poll of the Day: Should Malaysia naturalize Selangor hotshot Paulo Rangel?

Speculations have suggested that Malaysian football fans are interested in seeing Paulo Rangel feature for the national team

It appears that the tide is finally shifting in Malaysia. So often have we seen nations include naturalized players in their line up and it is especially prominent in the Middle East. Even if we were to look closer, Singapore has several naturalized names that have been consistently helping them on the global scene as well.

Thus, there have been calls for Malaysia to include and naturalize some of these talented foreigners, in order for the Malayan Tigers to shine on the international arena. And the one name that is being consistently linked with this is none other than Paulo Rangel.

The Brazilian forward first arrived at the local football scene by signing for Perak last year and he made an instant impact by consistently scoring goals for them. His performance was so immense that Selangor did not hesitate to make a move for him during the off-season.

And even since joining The Red Giants, Rangel has been even more prominent, being the current Malaysia Super League (MSL) top scorer. His statistics in the AFC Cup also suggests that Rangel can be the man to depend on big occasions.

Considering the fact that the forward department has always been a niggling issue for the national team, some believe that naturalizing Rangel will give them an added advantage when it comes to international fixtures.

Of course, there has always been qualms as to whether we should continuously protect our tradition of only fielding home-grown players. But the tides seems to be turning now, especially with more nations utilizing this option.

What say you, Malaysian football fans? Do you think that Malaysia should naturalize Paulo Rangel? Feel free to leave comments if you have any other opinions.
