The Football Association of Malaysia has revealed that the fight for the post of the President of the FAM will be between three people.
The FAM’s secretary-general, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, revealed that it will be a three-way fight, but did not reveal the names of the runners.
There is yet no formal announcement made by the current president, Sultan Ahmad Shah, about his status as President, but rumours have stated that he will continue to fight for the post.
Speculation is also surrounding Deputy President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, claiming he'll fight for the post, as well as the President of Johor Football Assocation (JFA), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
According to Bernama, Hamidin said “The final list of candidates will be announced before the FAM Congress on May 25th. And the secretariat will also inform all the nominees and will also send them a consent form to know whether (we) accept or reject the nominations.
Hamidin stated that 10 nominations has been received for the Deputy President post, 17 nominations for Vice-President, 35 nominations for executive committee posts and 11 for women’s executive committee posts.
The 50th congress of the FAM is expected to be a tight one as a lot of big names are linked to join the fight for the top two posts of the association.
