Interim coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee admitted that he is still looking for the best central midfield combo ahead of the crucial tie against Yemen on Wednesday.

The former international midfielder is spoilt for choice with a plethora of central midfielders to choose from; Badhri Radzi, Nazmi Faiz, Hafiz Kamal and Safiq Rahim.

“I need to think about the match situation. We have to be well prepared with Yemen’s style of play and cover every possible outcome from their attacks. From there, I’ll then decide which central midfielders to start with,” he told Astro Arena.

Hafiz Kamal and Safiq Rahim got the nod from the Melaka-born coach in his first match in charge of the Harimau Malaya against the Philippines. The fiery Pahang playmaker made a solid international debut, successfully threading a few key passes to the misfiring forwards while Safiq had a subdued but diligent 45 minutes against the Azkals.

Kelantan skipper Badhri Radzi on the other hand came on in the second half carving the defence open on two occasions whereas wonderkid Nazmi Faiz was an unused substitute.
