Describing Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim as committed and always involved with football directly, Tan Sri Annuar Musa believes that these characteristics makes Ismail a good fit to lead the association.

Other than Tunku Ismail, Annuar also mentioned President of Sabah FA Datuk Seri Musa Aman, President of Negeri Sembilan FA Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, President of Sarawak FA Datuk Sudarsono Osman and President of Kuala Lumpur FA Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz as the names that could replace the current President of the FAM.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Annuar said “I think Ismail can be the President. So (can) the President(s) from Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, they all can because they are committed. For me I can’t compete because I’m still suspended till this October, and I can only just watch.”

Annuar also stated that other people should be brave enough to come forward and challenge the position of the FAM President, rather than merely talking about the association and doing nothing.

“It’s been a while since we talked about the FAM. We have gone through many things but if this elections will be the same like before then changes will never happen. The current president has contributed a lot to local football but we need to make improvements and I feel that he is ready to make way for new candidates.”

Annuar meanwhile insisted that he wants changes in the FAM as he feels that Malaysia’s ranking of 160th in the FIFA Rankings is ridiculous, believing that Malaysia should be in the top 100.
