Norshahrul Idlan Talaha failed to report for the first centralized training of the national team, and interim manager Ong Kim Swee is not too happy about it
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha absence from the first day of training without providing any reason has upset national coach Dato’ Ong Kim Swee.
During the first centralised training for all the national players, Norshahrul failed to report, and according to Kim Swee the striker should have had no problem in attending for the training, especially as this is not the first time he is being called up to play for the national team.
Speaking to Bernama, Kim Swee said “As a matter of fact, he should be one of the early players to report for training. He must give us the reason for his absence officially.”
Among players who attended the first national training under OKS were Baddrol Bakhtiar, Farizal Marlias, Safee Sali, Safiq Rahim, Mahali Jasuli, Aidil Zafuan, Khairu Fahmi Che Mat and Badhri Radzi. Another JDT player Amri Yahyah also missed the training but had already informed Kim Swee.
However, according to the Malacca-born coach, he was more concerned about the defence rather than the strikers.
“Amri had informed me that he would not be able to attend training due to family problems. But apart from Norshahrul, I still have Safee, Bobby Gonzales, Amri, and Fakri Saarani, so what is important here is the defence,” he added.
Ong Kim Swee will take charge of his first game as national coach against Philippines in a friendly game in March before facing a huge task against Yemen in Asian Cup Qualifications.
