FAM back in search for new national team head coach, after Troussier's unlikely demands
After over a month of discussions between the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and former Japan and Morocco head coach Philippe Troussier, reports have emerged that the deal that would see him taking over as the Malaysia national team head coach is not going to materialise after all.
Despite interest from other national teams, signs were pointing to Troussier being inclined towards the Malaysia job.
The 59-year old was earlier reported to have flown to Malaysia a few days ago for the final rounds of discussion with FAM to finalise his contract.
However, national dailies Harian Metro and Kosmo! have both since reported that the deal has fallen through, citing a French media source. According to the source, Troussier has refused to adhere to the Key Performance Index that will be put in place by FAM, and also demanded a one-sided contract that gets himself financially compensated even when it is terminated on his end, two terms that are not willing to be met by FAM officials.
