The second round of fixtures for MSL will have T-Team facing an uphill task to collect their first three points of the season against star-studded title favourites Johor Darul Ta'zim. While coach Azraai Khor is hoping for a top five finish this season, the Titans will need to begin picking up points soon in order to achieve that goal.
Perhaps luck was not on T-Team's side when the fixtures schedule came out, facing Selangor and JDT back to back in the league for their first two games. But no excuses should be made from Azraai and company, if they wish to finish in the top five then taking points off teams like this will be required.
If there is one thing Azraai Khor should be worried about it is their defensive line, as four goals were conceded in their first two games, including two in the FA Cup win against UiTM last Tuesday, surely a worrying sight for the coaches as well as the fans. Although they did score three goals against UiTM, defensive mistakes almost cost them a place in the second round of FA Cup. Facing the very competent attacking prowess of JDT, Faizal and Fabio surely need to tighten up at the back. In attacking areas, Patrich must start to create more chances for the forwards, and the team must use their home advantage against the visitors.
For JDT, a winning start against Perak last weekend was definitely what the team and the fans needed after several big signings in the transfer window had raised expectations through the roof. Despite some critics saying that their performance was not the best with considering the quality of players that they have, two goals from Luciano and Amri was enough to give them a good start for the season.
Top signing Pablo Aimar showed his class with some good passess and spread the ball around to give space for strikes Amri and Luciano. While the much maligned Safiq put in some accurate passes, especially the one that led to Luciano's goal, somthing he will want to repeat against T-Team. At the back, Baihakki and Aidil made a formidable partnership and they will look to add to the clean sheet that they picked up last weekend.
JDT received a bye in the FA Cup and had much more time to rest and prepare from T-Team, they will hope this translates into three points in round two.
