FA Cup 2013 Champions, Kelantan are in desperate need of friendly matches before the starts of the Malaysia Super League (MSL) next month.
Head coach Steve Darby admitted that he is worried with the situation as he wanted to test the right combination of players for next season. He said that they wished to have more friendly game since the match against Terengganu was canceled last week.
According to Bernama, Steve said “Honestly it looks serious (that we don’t have no friendly games). We were thinking of going to Indonesia to join a tournament over there but we are yet to receive any news about it. If not, then we have to think of other alternatives. We might have to go to Thailand or Brunei.”
Steve also admitted that his decision to have friendly matches against amateur teams was not the right move to prepare his team for next season.
“What’s important is the game, not the result. The friendly matches are really important because I can look at the young players and I can see that they have improved a lot,” he added.
The new Kelantan coach also gave updates on injured players such as Nik Shahrul, Mohamad Abd Aziz and Wan Zaharulnizam are recovering well and may be fit in time to fight for a spot in the first eleven next season.
