Kelantan showcased all of their new signings on Tuesday afternoon, ending the fans’ long wait to find out the Red Warriors’ revamped squad.
They have enlisted the services of three new strikers; Lebanese international Ghaddar, ex-Selangor man Francis Forkey Doe and Shakir Ali.
Egyptian Mohamed Shawky will join the ranks of the Red Warriors’ midfield along with Amar Rohidan, Brendan Gan, Tengku Hasbullah and Nazri Ahmad in defence.
The President of the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) Tan Sri Annuar Musa headed the proceedings and indicated that they had problems trying to replace veteran Indra Putra Mahayuddin but they have found a local player in Wan Zaharulnizam to stand in.
He said: “We had difficulties in replacing Indra Putra (but) we have found Kelantan-born Wan Zaharulnizam who is a much faster player.”
Steve Darby was revealed to be Kelantan’s new head coach last week, replacing Bojan Hodak, and he has signed a two-year deal with the club.
There are no other changes to the backroom staff except for Hashim Mustapha’s promotion to the assistant coach position.
Annuar also revealed that Badhri Radzi will remain as the team captain and his subordinates, Obinna Nwaneri and Khairul Fahmi will take on the vice-captain role.
The KAFA President took a moment to thank all of the players that have helped the team achieve success in the last season.
“Eighteen of our players left the squad last season and we would like to thank them for their contributions last year,” Annuar added.
“The departure of so many players would be an obstacle for us and we have taken swift actions to find replacements.”
