The Footbal Association of Malaysia are ready to pay whomever replaces Datuk K. Rajagopal as Malaysia head coach and will do so according to their abilities
Datuk K. Rajagopal’s replacement can expect to be paid according to their individual talents once they take over the helm of the Malaysian national team.
Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, revealed that they are ready for such an expenditure when the new coach arrives.
He told Kosmo!: “We will evaluate the capabilities of the new coach and if he requires a salary that is too large, we may not be able pay.
“We will assess his abilities and will pay him within our means without a promise of a lavish amount.”
Tengku Abdullah was responding to the media when he was asked whether or not he was willing to lash out a hefty sum to sign the services of a new coach for the Malayan Tigers.
The list of big names who have shown interest in the coaching role are former Liverpool coach Alex Miller, ex-Japan boss Phillippe Trouisser and German legend Rudi Voller.
Trouisser, on the other hand, has come out with an expected monthly salary of US$126,805 (MYR416,000).
When asked if the associaiton can afford his wages, Tengku Abdullah jested: “I will have to check with the FAM accountant first as I myself don’t know.
“God willing, we will try.”
