Negeri Sembilan coach sang praises for his team's heroic win over the defending Malaysia Cup champions Kelantan

Struggling Negeri Sembilan once again shocked the Malaysian football world with a 3-2 win over Kelantan in Kota Bharu. Two goals from Fabio Leandro Barbossa in the second half were enough to secure the victory.

“I should be thankful to the boys for showing great composure and discipline to win this tough match. I talked to the players to steal one point. It is our luck to win in Kota Bharu,” he said.

The victory put Negeri back on track and are leading the "Group of Death" with seven points above Pahang and Kelantan with five points each.

“Yes, it is a good win for us to grab a spot in the quarter finals, but it is still a long way to reach there. I will have two weeks off, and it will be a good moment for us to prepare, and I hope those who are injured will recover in time.”

The Deers took the early lead but were left behind through Indraputra and Fakri Saarani's goals after the interval. Against all odds, they managed to secure the win.

“It was great to see my players' determination to win this match. The pair of Sivanesan and Fabio was really good upfront and the return of Norhafiz Zamani gave a huge impact.”

Asked to comment about the performances of Fabio Barbosa and third goalkeeper Mohd Kaharuddin, Ridzuan had this to say, “Fabio is a great player, you can see his technique and skills with the ball, but every player have their own weaknesses and in this case, Fabio is not tall enough for us to play high balls.

One thing about this young goalkeeper is he has passion that some of the players do not have. He is commited and is always eager to show his ability when he is given the chance. I salute his actions tonight where he made a great effort to deny several of Kelantan’s chances.”

“I’m glad that we won, and it is good boost for us go gain some more points,” Ridzuan concluded.
