The Red Warriors' goalkeeper, Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, has vowed to be at his best for Kelantan in the Malaysia Cup campaign
Kelantan and Malaysia goalkeeper, Khairul Fahmi Che Mat (Apek), has promised to be at his best once again when the 87thMalaysia Cup begins this Tuesday.
He insisted that his main focus right now is to work hard in training before kicking off their campaign in the tournament against Pahang in Kuantan tomorrow.
Speaking to Sinar Harian, Apek said: "In any sports, the ups and downs of a player are normal.
"I admit that my recent performances were not that good and I need to fix it if I want to be in the first 11."
The 24-year-old also stated that there is no automatic spot in the Kelantan team despite his status as the national goalkeeper.
"I cannot say that the goalkeeper position in Kelantan is definitely mine.
"All my teammates have an equal chance to start the game because the coach has the right to judge whether the player can play or not," he added.
Apek was criticised after letting in an easy goal against Barcelona in a friendly match recently and he is determined to improve and help Kelantan win the Malaysia Cup for the second year in a row.
