Two national coaches, Datuk K. Rajagopal and Ong Kim Swee have met to discuss who will follow Harimau Muda 'A' and the Malaysian senior team
The two Head Coaches of the national team, Datuk K.Rajagopal for the Malayan Tigers and Ong Kim Swee for the Young Tigers, have reached an agreement on picking up players for their respective squads for international matches this September.
After the discussion, both coaches have agreed that only Nik Shahrul Azim and Junior Eldstal will tag along with the national team while other players such as Wan Zack Haikal and Fadhli Shas will help the Young Tigers in the Merdeka Cup.
According to Utusan, Ong said: "Rajagopal and I have discussed earlier in order to avoid picking up the same players as we both understand how important our job is.
"I have a tough task of preparing for the SEA Games as Rajagopal is also preparing his team for the Asian Cup qualifier.
"So we have made the decision that Nik Shahrul and Junior will join the national team as the rest of them can join me for the Merdeka Cup," he added.
The issues of calling up players for the national team has been a problem berfore where Rajagopal lined up five Young Tigers' players without the knowledge of Ong back in October.
However, FAM has resolved the issue and has taken every step to avoid such a situation.
The Malaysia national team will have two Class 'A' friendlies on September 6 and 10, and it clashes with the Merdeka Cup, in which Harimau Muda 'A' will participate in, which runs from 7 to 14 in the same month.
