Four Young Tigers are set to miss the Merdeka Tournament due to injury as Head Coach Ong Kim Swee hunts for replacements
The Young Tigers' camp face tough times ahead of their Merdeka Tournament campaign after four of their key players will miss out on the competition due to injuries.
Players such as Izzaq Faris Ramlan, Fandi Othman, Amer Saidin and Gary Steven will miss the tournament as Head Coach Ong Kim Swee continues to look for replacements.
Speaking to Sinar Harian, Kim Swee said: "Three to four players have been left out for the tournament due to injuries.
"They need time to recover so I have to find replacements to fill their shoes."
Names that might be called up to be with the squad for Merdeka Cup are Zubir Azmi, Nik Shahrul Azmi, K. Reuben and Junior Edstal.
"We will discuss with the respective clubs to let go of their players for the benefit of both teams," he added.
The Merdeka Tournament will be held in Pahang next month as Malaysia are set to take on Thailand, Singapore and Myanmar in the tournament before facing them once again in the SEA Games.
