Malaysian economy will benefit from FC Barcelona’s visit

Organiser of the Malaysia XI-Barcelona clash, Malaysia Major Events, expects the Malaysian economy to generate a RM115 million profit

In light of FC Barcelona’s visit to Malaysia on August 10 to play against the national team, the country will generate RM115 million in revenues.

This is according to a statement released by the organiser of the big match, Malaysia Major Events (MME).

The MME further elaborated that the glamour clash will not only attract 80,000 spectators and 8,000 Barca fans to flock to the Bukit Jalil Stadium, but it will also educate foreigners on the Malaysian culture due to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

The CEO of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Zulkefli Sharif said: “Malaysians and football are inseparable.

“We are happy to see the greatness of the spirit of the football hit the country and we will continue to bring the mega sporting event here.”

MME is a branch under the MyCEB, an agency in control by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
