Chelsea today continued their commercial activities as part of their 2013 Asian Tour, by providing the youths a chance to train with them. Tomas Kalas, Petr Cech, Andre Schurrle, Ryan Bertrand and Marco van Ginkel were on hand to train together with the group.
These 10 lucky youths were winners of a competition held by Adidas and Al-Ikhsan Sport, carefully selected from participants who had purchased merchandise of up to RM150. Together with these 10, 55 more other children from the Chelsea soccer schools around the world (Indonesia, Japan and Hong Kong) also joined the training.
This exclusive youth training session was held at the ‘Chelsea Blue Pitch’ facility here in Damansara Damai. The Blue Pitch facility is a unique and one of a kind training hub, which comprises of a hard surface indoor pitch, as well as an AstroTurf and an outdoor facility.
The participants were divided into groups, lead by respective coaches from Chelsea, and each player took turns to spend time with each group. After each five-minutes drill, the players proceeded to sign every single shirt within the group.
Even though the drills with the players were short, the children and their parents were enthusiastic to meet the representatives from Chelsea. The only sour note of this coaching clinic was the ‘exclusivity’ of the event. Local media were shunned out as the sponsors lapped up the time with the players and officials of Chelsea.
