ATM, who is one of the two teams representing the FAM in the FAM and FAS championship, will use the competition as part of their warm-up before the Malaysia Cup tournament kicks off in August.
ATM’s coach, B. Sathianathan has said that the match will be the best platform for him to test his team before they start their campaign in this year’s Malaysia Cup. To him, it is important to find the weakness and the strength of his team before the tournament starts.
Speaking to Sinar Harian, Sathia said “Of course we are very proud to represent the FAM in the FAM and FAS Championship. This is also our best chance to repay the trust and faith given to us by giving our best performance in the competition. I hope all the players will give their best as this is not just for ATM, but also for Malaysia.”
ATM, alongside Kelantan will represent Malaysia in FAM and FAS Championship next month. ATM will meet Singapore Cup champions Warriors FC, while FA Cup holders Kelantan will face Singapore’s FA Cup holders Tampines Rovers.
Both teams are elected to play in the tournament based on their achievements in the Malaysian League last season (2012), where Kelantan were the treble winners while ATM were the Premier League Champions and Malaysia Cup finalists.
