Ong Kim Swee has warned his players to be more disciplined on the pitch or else their Universiade 2013 campaign will turn into a disaster
The Harimau Muda A coach is concerned about the discipline of his players and has urged them to be more disciplined in order to avoid a disaster in their Universiade 2013 campaign.
Kim Swee said he had warned his players to be more careful on the pitch as their uncharacteristic behaviour will affect the team’s performance and chances.
According to Bernama, Kim Swee said “I have warned every player. Cases like this cannot continue because it will affect the team. Players must know the misfortune red cards can bring to a team. They must know that their absence (due to suspension) will affect the whole team’s performance and result.”
Harimau Muda A listed 16 players for the competition, but has lost three players due to red cards in their first two matches of the competition.
In the game against Italy, Mohd Izham Tarmizi and Shahrul Azwari were dismissed, though Harimau Muda A were able to upset the Italians by winning the game 2-0. They were not that fortunate when they lost to Great Britain in the second game, with Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria red carded during the defeat.
Malaysia now have to make do with only 13 players for their last game in the group against Algeria, where Malaysia is hoping that Algeria will not show up for the match.
